BOYA BY-M1 Lavalier Mic Review / Test

Today I review & sound test a budget lav mic that costs only $20!!! This thing seems to be universally compatible, and offers pretty nice audio for the price tag. If you are on a budget and looking for the best lav mic, then this may be a good contender.

  1. I still in consideration to buy this mic, and I'm totally blind about this
Does anyone can confirm if it's really need a battery if I use it on PC or laptop?
    Thanks in advance !!

  2. I just bought one. Not working well for me. In OBS Studio, (i have the mic turned to max), but when recording using the boya m1 the volume playback is very low. Unless i hold the mic right to my mouth, its recording low for some reason.

  3. I bought this a couple of months ago, used it once and then yesterday tried to use it and either it died or the battery died. I will have to buy another battery to try out, but bad design that there is no power light to show if it is working or not and that the battery would died just sitting around for a couple of months.

  4. This video made me buy this mic for my budget guest podcast setup. I got just one to see for myself if it fit my needs before i splurged on a bunch of them, but I'm pretty confident that it's perfect. I really appreciated how straightforward this review actually was! No nonsense, no random unrelated personal anecdotes, no hmmms and ums, no crinkling plastic packages, and tested across multiple devices and OS–simply a perfect review. I didn't even know how bad a review could be until I saw how good this one was XD

  5. "Now I'm sitting at the top of a mountain and I've got the microphone plugged to a device that I've built myself and this is how the microphone sounds". All joking aside, it's not the first time I come across your videos and they're the best when it comes to testing stuff. I just love them. Keep up the amazing work!

  6. Wow… So I'm not the only one who had horrible results from this mic in a windows 10 device. I thought it was just a horrible mic, but apparently it actually does sound decent on other devices. Strange. I found it sound horrible with a horrible noise floor and clipping making it unusable for recording audio, but your example in the mobile phone actually sounds good.
