IKEA Skådis Pegboard System | Easy Installation Tips

The IKEA Skådis Pegboard System has been installed in the craft room, so I’ve got wall storage AND a YouTube filming backdrop now. My husband did the hard work on his day off, so we are showing the entire process of putting up the pegboards and sharing knowledge we learned that hopefully will be helpful to you.

I bought 4 of the 30″ x 22″ pegboards in white, plus a lot of random Skådis accessories. It must be very popular as IKEA was out of stock on quite a few extras, so I’ve placed an online order for more. So far I’ve spent about $122.

A storage solution for the entire home
You can combine SKÅDIS storage series any way you like. And if you change your mind, it’s easy to change the accessories and create a new solution. Choose if you want to attach it to a desktop, to a shelf or hang it on the wall.

Supplies we recommend for this project:
Round head screws (make sure the head is large enough for the screw hole)
Drywall anchors
Screwdriver / power drill
Bubble level
Measuring tape
Pencil / pen

  1. Very nice! I didn't want to buy this pegboard because looking at the screws on the outside I thought that it would leave HUGE holes in my wall. Now that I see it isn't going to leave HUGE holes in my wall. I am going to Ikea to buy one tomorrow. Yes, I only have wall space for 1. But, that is better than none. Right!?! Great job both of you.

  2. Thank you for this! I kept looking at the directions and thinking: this needs screws. Where are the screws? LOL I appreciate the clarification. FYI: Ikea has even fewer accessories in stock than when you purchased yours. It's crazy.

  3. Note to anyone thinking of buying this: You DO need to buy additional screws and anchors (two of each) that are big enough to hold the mount! I was looking for videos because I thought I missed something, but nope they just weren't included.

  4. Hey, just wanted to say 'thank you' for posting this video. I just bought this and was trying to figure out how to secure it to the wall. This video helped me immensely. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

  5. Thank you for this. I’ve used the Skadis pegboards for awhile now, but I had them attached to my table. I’m now in a different house and want to mount them on the wall. I kept all of the hardware, so now I’m about to convince my hubby to put them up for me.

  6. Thank you so much!! I watched this when you first posted it, and am now about to order everything I need for a wall in my craft room. This will be extremely helpful for my husband, as we have also heard that the IKEA instructions are quite limited 🙂
