With the video editor in YouTube Studio, you can cut out the beginning, middle, or end of your video on a computer. You don’t need to re-upload a video to trim it — plus, the video’s URL, view count, and comments will stay the same.

thanks
The process is completely different now and this video really could use an update. the new process involves clicking into the trim editor, now located on left side of the screen, selecting "new cut", and then dragging your cut to the location you want to remove. Hope this helps for the 2022-2023 crowd.
So simple, clear and effective.
Thank you!
Thanks you were of great help to me
Tanks you so much 🙏 for information 👍🥰
not working,😎
Thanks this will help with my gaming channel
why does my Editor interface look different than this tutorial? I see no "Trim" option on video timeline as shows 0:31 into the tutorial. I notice this video uploaded 2019. From 2019 to 2022 is like eons of centuries in internet time. Hey google, get it together, bro. You one of the richest companies in the history of humanity and can't upload a "How To" which displays current interface? Not that tough. Let's get current already!
Soy el comentario español que estabas buscando!! HOLAA 👋👋
When I click the video, there is no side menu to click editor. This must be old info. It doesn't work for me.
thanks. Please share a tutorial for trimming those videos where youtube studio music is used.

My video is 56 mins long but I cant seem to make it shorter.
This editing instruction video is now out of date. The editor has been updated, and I'm still
trying to work it out. It was so much easier before when there was the SPLIT………CLEAR ALL…….PREVIEW
bar at the bottom of the page. It's been a couple of weeks of trying to edit a video, but I'm not giving up.
Why did they even need to change things. Oh well, lets give it another try….. for the hundredth time.
What if i need to insert a video from someone else
I have found out at last how to cut a piece in the middle of the video, but it's completely inconvenient and even dysfunctional way in comparison with the old interface. BAD management. I believe you just create changes not caring for users but to create the appearance of it to get promoted and suchlike. The core of the problem with the new interface is that it is impossible to measure the length of the piece which is needed to be cut out as there is no way to watch and listen the piece between two red boundaries and you have to measure it by guess.
Today, on the 4th of September 2022, there is completely different interface and NO OPTION to cut out a piece in the middle of the video. At least, I have not got it so far. At the end, I wonder why what is called "improvement" by administration or management of YouTube is always turns out a huge drawback and inconvenience for a user.
Eu sei que vocês estão vendo esse comentário e vai me ajudar a divulgar esse canal para mais pessoas um bom final de semana a todos tudo de bom que Deus abençoe a cada um de vocês
I just went to youtube studios to fix up a video i was working on and now the split feature isn't there!
Now I'm forced to use cuts which is stupidly over-complicated! Please bring back the split feature!
Thanks for caring enough to make trimming the video as overcomplicated as you possibly can!
perfect explanation
impressive simple clear explanation
Helped Alot!
What if you don’t have YouTube studio? Can you still edit it?
thank you very much
You're looking for 1:00
thank you so much
I reccomend editing your video before you upload in something basic like clip champ or movie maker.
This is not how the tool works now. Don't know when it was changed, but it doesn't look like that, (the name is even different now). How about some updated information? That, or make the tool work intuitively? I use Premiere at home but just wanted to upload something while on the road and this process is way harder than it needs to be. It acts like it's making changes, but the save button is never clickable even though the discard changes link suggests changes have been made. How do I save those changes if "save" isn't active?
This is a bit confusing but… life find’s a way
The music behind the voice is far too much. I have autism and I just can't decifer the words because of the music.
"Cannot be trimmed because it is too long" any solution to this?
You know what I like about this video, as opposed to the thousands of other videos on YouTube, supposedly "telling" you how to do something? It got right to the point of what I wanted to know, instead of spending 10 minutes rambling on and on, with "Let me first tell you a story", nonsense.
Make it CLEARER at the start of 'Trim'- how to' as it is a bit unclear- ! Rest is great.
my youtube doesn't allow me to split or trim from the middle only the ends, what is wrong?
There is an audio lag between video and audio. I want to trim only the video portion and not the audio to align it. Does this have an option
Not what I see on my screen
It’s unfortunate that most of the options presented in this video don’t actually show up when trying to follow these steps. My only guess is they changed things so substantially that this videos only now serves to cause confusion & frustration.
Either that or youtube studio is broken.
TRIM option is not showing on YT Studio. What To do to enable it ?
Finally I can cut out a useless part of a video that I don't want anyone to see.
If you have an element at the end (like an end screen), you have to trash it first.
Yeah its different now where you click i just dont have those options!
Thanks for this simple and useful video. Unfortunately the Preview function mentioned in the video does not work on my system (MacBook Pro, M1 chip, Safari 15.5). When Preview is clicked after the edit points are set for removing a segment, nothing happens. In fact there is no way to play the video at all from within the timeline.
exactly what I needed. THANK YOU!
