Buying a used laptop can be a scary experience. I'd stick to ONLY something that has at least a partial warranty/guarantee.

Use Craigslist at your own risk. I know a friend who bought a Macbook off Craiglist for a decent price, but he was arrested by police a week later since that Macbook was actually stolen. He had absolutely no clue.
