The wired Apple ear pods give twice as good sound as the bluetooth AirPods.
The wired Apple ear pods have a light weight, convenient volume control on the cable by the right ear. The wireless AirPods require sliding down the control screen on the iPad or iPhone, slide the control to adjust the volume, then tap to close the control screen.
The wired Apple ear pods do not disappear under the refrigerator or in the soup when they fall out, and they do fall out often, despite experimenting with all of the soft ear pieces.
The wired ear pieces do not have a battery that will go flat, requiring the purchase of new AirPods, at $360 a pair.
Wired ear pods work from the iPad or iPhone by wired connection. The wired ear pods are connected to the iPad and not easily lost or forgotten.
Wireless ear pods as an option is a great idea for those that want them, but in my experience wired are 5 times better, I want them back as the best private sound option.
